You might remember the scrapbooks you looked through when you were young. Pages of old pictures placed in unexciting rows with nothing to tell you who you are looking at or the occasion being recorded.
Times have changed!
Scrapbooks have gotten a makeover. Scrapbooking is a fun and exciting way to preserve memories. Scrapbooks now tell stories with pictures and journaling. People are now using scrapbooks to tell the stories of their lives...the holidays, special occasions, happy times and the people who live them. By including journaling, scrapbooks have become storybooks. Scrapbooks use paper and embellishments to decorate pages in exciting new ways...

Many "scrapbookers" know that scrapbooks can be used to tell stories, document lives, and chronicle events. But have you ever imagined that a scrapbook page you create might teach someone something? Imagine researching your family history, an activity you enjoy, or the life of someone you admire. When you compile what you have learned...saved the pictures, written the stories, collected the souvenirs...you will share what you have learned with other, and they will learn something about you in the process.
This is what happens when scrapbooks are used in the classroom. Scrapbooks can help students take what they have learned and present that information in a way that others can understand.
Educational Scrapbooks was created to be a resource for teachers interesting in using scrapbooks in the classroom. These pages will provide examples of the types of scrapbooks and examples of state educational standards, as well as providing examples of projects for a variety of subjects. This page is geared toward educators, but anyone interested in scrapbooking can find helpful information that they can use. This site provides archivists (a.k.a.: scrappers, scrap-bookers, scrap-artists) with techniques, tips and resources to create new and interesting pages.
